We are a “LOCAL” small family business that is ready to serve our clients with the highest level of professionalism.

About Pete Bryant (the man, the myth, the LEGEND)
Okay, that’s a little dramatic…but he’s good, really good!
President, Owner. Certified Lighting Designer & Installer, CLVLT, COLD, AOLP Board Member
Greensboro native, Pete grew up in Sunset Hills, attended Grimsley High School, and graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Business. Pete began his career by starting and growing his landscape business Southern Exposure Landscape Management (now Southern Outdoor Living) in 1995, which he sold in 2022. Outdoor lighting quickly became an addition to his landscaping company after demand for the service grew. Pete’s interest in outdoor lighting continued to grow over the years and his passion for “Great Lighting” and Southern Lights Outdoor Lighting & Audio was born. Pete now is able to focus 100% of his time running the day-to-day operations at Southern Lights Outdoor Lighting & Audio, overseeing all aspects of the company making sure a high level of excellence is maintained in every area. Pete continues to take multiple courses every year to keep up-to-date on the latest trends, techniques and requirements within the industry.
We are a fully licensed and experienced firm, carrying more certifications than anyone in the state currently. With a dedicated staff and a love for our job, we strive to complete every job with excellence. We are constantly updating our certifications and equipment inventory to meet the needs of our industry and customers. Our employees make the difference and on average have been employed with our company for 17 years!
Being prepared is essential to an efficient install. We use the highest quality lighting fixtures to ensure the products we bring to the job are always functioning. We also keep all the necessary tools and materials on our lighting trucks and trailers to ensure we’ll get the job done and prepared to trouble shoot if necessary. Pete has been married over 20 years to his high school sweetheart and has two amazing kids. Pete’s hobbies include being on the water, snowboarding, soccer, traveling, traveling, and watching his kids activities.
Southern Lights has had the distinct opportunity to be chosen to work with the Frank Lloyd Wright Institute: Taliesin West Project. Pete spent three days in Arizona along with two other landscape lighting designers & contractors from across the country (California & Georgia) working alongside Frank Lloyd’s design staff to provide outdoor lighting to the institute’s guests and design students. Phase I was completed in late July of 2017 and gained the momentum of Frank Lloyd Wright’s staff to move forward with Phase II, which will begin in October 2017. The goal of this lighting project was to highlight the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and allow safe viewing of the site during evening hours.
Pete believes in the Lighting & Green Industries and has taken great strides to provide our services in a manner that enhance properties visually while also being sensitive to the world around us. “Think Green” isn’t just a slogan for us, but a regular practice. Using only the highest quality and environmentally friendly products, we’re doing our part to be responsible with our natural resources.

Our main office & showroom is located behind Dominos Pizza and beside the fire station at 6212 Lake Brandt Rd, Summerfield, NC 27358.
Our original outdoor showroom (by appointment only) is located across the street at the corner of Hwy 150 and Lake Brandt Road (across from Southern States) in the historic Hillsdale Brick Store (1000 NC HWY 150 W, Summerfield, NC 27358).
